Fumed silica

Fumed silica, as a lightweight filler, enhances the mechanical properties of composites by improving viscosity, reinforcement, and dimensional stability. Its high surface area and low density make it an ideal choice for applications requiring lightweight yet durable solutions, such as in coatings and adhesives.

Our fumed silica at a glance

  • White solid-powder
  •  very large surface area and low density
  • Used in plastics and adhesives for thickening/Thixotropy, as an anti-settling agent, for reinforcement, and anti-blocking.
  • In paints and coatings, also for corrosion protection and improving scratch resistance.
  • In printing inks for improving print sharpness and pigment dispersion.
  • Consistency regulator, flow control agent.
  • Powdered fumed silica is used as a core support in the production of evacuated insulation materials (VIP = Vacuum Insulation Panels or VIS = Vacuum Insulation Sandwich Elements). The highly porous material achieves low thermal conductivity values even with relatively low vacuum requirements (around below 10 mbar).
  • Defoamer additive.

Advantages of fumed silica by NHU

Tested. Certified. Trusted.

#1

XYSIL® hydrophilic fumed silica produced by Henan Xunyu Chemical is synthetic, amorphous fumed silica powder with BET surface area from 150 to 380 m2/g. It is a nanomaterial with strong hygroscopicity (absorbing moisture). It is can be wetted by water, and dispersed in water forming a suspension.

#2

XYSIL® fumed silica is produced by flame without superficial treatment. Our products are classified into four grades mainly according to BET surface area: XYSIL150, XYSIL200, XYSIL300, and XYSIL380.

#3

XYSIL150, XYSIL200, XYSIL300, XYSIL380

#4

XYSIL® hydrophobic fumed silica is based on hydrophilic fumed silica powder products after-treated with HMDS (hexamethyldisilazane) and DDS (Dimethyldichlorosilane) based superficial treatment, or structure modified.

#5
